There are plenty of WordPress SEO plugins in the market – free and paid.
But do they actually work?
Before we go into the subject, let’s examine what WordPress plugins do for you. Back in the old days when everything in the web world had to be coded by hand, you had a whole lot of work involved in making a site, submitting it to Google, and every time there was a new update on your site, you had to make sure it got indexed again. This means that your pages or posts need to have sufficient keyword density, so that the keywords on your page are able to have enough instances where they can have those attributes. For example, your keyword in the first occurrence could be italicized, or made bold, or could be underlined. Subsequent occurrences could have other attributes added, and so on.
Another aspect of on-page SEO is, and one that many of us often neglect, is that you need to add keywords to your images – both in the actual name of the image, as well as in the alt tags.
You need to have your keyword included in the first sentence as well as in the last sentence.
It’s a proven fact that pages which are optimized well typically score much higher than any competitive pages which have not been optimized well enough.
What does this mean in real terms?
This simply means that when you have 2 competing websites, the site which has better on-page optimization will need to not work quite as hard as compared to another site which has not devoted sufficient time to the on-page SEO aspect of their site. This means that the former site would need fewer backlinks than the latter site.
